Site Survey, Selection and validation

Teams fully adopted to various RF propagation conditions ranging from desert areas to water bodies and mountain terrains, dry to tropical weather, rural to dense urban clutter and fully acquainted with tools and programs required

Initial site selection is coordinated so that locations meet the coverage and microwave survey requirements
  • These target areas are then investigated and evaluated as to their suitability
  • Given a search area radius, several potential locations are identified for each site, which are then investigated from RF point of view
  • Nearby obstacles
  • Possible antenna heights and restrictions
  • Airspace, military and other agency regulations
  • International boundaries, airport locations and restricted areas
  • Local regulations…

The location meeting the greatest number of criteria is chosen as the preliminary location for the site
  • A description package for each preliminary location is prepared, including all applications, preliminaryCAD drawings and reports showing necessary information to make the next level of decisions about each location
  • The customer reviews each site package and determines which sites to be kept into or removed from consideration

Ownership search determines the legal status of the site. 3E contacts the owner for obtaining right of entry and signing the pricing options for leasing or purchasing

A field visit is then made by Qualios engineers and the customer’s to further assess the site. Several locations are visited to determine the best and secondary options in case the first choice cannot be obtained

Topographical survey
  • Contours, roadways, waterways
  • Elevation, exact GPS coordinates for center of tower

Boundary survey
  • Survey map with clear site boundaries and area required for lease or purchase

Site accessibility and climate considerations
  • 24 hours a day, seven days a week site access
  • All weather access roads and satisfactory rights of way
  • Cranes or hoists required can be accommodated for
  • Any special climate conditions

Microwave survey
  • LOS and/or field path surveys to assure microwave reliability
  • Antenna heights and mounting restrictions

Soil survey aimed at
  • Tower and foundation design
  • Grounding analysis and design

Site and personnel security and safety issues
  • Security and safety of operations, personnel, equipment and site
  • Risk for natural disasters

Utilities
  • Existing or nearby lease line facilities
  • Distance to existing AC utilities

Environment
  • Environmental regulations and sensitivity
  • RF environment, regulations and interference sources
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
  • Dust and carbon dust

Analysis and development of existing structures are tracked and managed with the same attention to detail afforded to new sites
  • All system and microwave antennas including any expected future growth can be mounted on the structure
  • The addition of equipment does not surpass the ratings of the structure without requiring additional engineering
  • If available, the equipment room environmental conditions are adequate for the addition of equipment as well as future expansion
  • Convenient access to the equipment room is available for installing and servicing equipment
  • The structure has adequate, reliable electrical service available
  • The floor or roof structure is adequate to support the equipment to be installed, including heavy cabinets and/or large battery banks and/or a self-contained rooftop shelter

Site Design, Permitting and Acquisition

The design and development of sites is critical not only to optimal functioning of the system, but also to reducing running operation and maintenance costs, assuring safety of personnel, enhancing quality of service and extending cycle time.

All design and construction drawings and specifications for a new site are provided by Qualios engineering teams ensuring that the design is adequate for the site conditions and customer approved prior to construction.

Training

We live in an increasingly connected world. With ICT and markets evolving rapidly, keeping pace requires a continuous learning process. Learning opportunities enables people to develop the right competencies, in the right place and at the right time making it critical to success. However, classroom training only represents a small proportion of the way people learn. The businesses that truly drive change are those that combine formal and informal learning with efficient knowledge-sharing processes to form a responsive and innovative learning culture.

A successful high-impact learning culture is one in which the value of learning is recognized, and where learning is seen as a critical investment and enabler for business success. It is one where employees feel empowered and responsible for driving their own professional development. Leaders in a high-impact learning culture work with competence planning and development of their employees and are role models in developing their own competence and learning. Successful learning cultures foster an environment where everyday learning, informal and on-the-job learning as well as knowledge sharing form an integral part of the overall learning culture.
